📊 Chart of the week
Which jobs is AI seeing the most action in? Anthropic’s latest research reveals the ten occupations with the highest “observed exposure” to AI automation — meaning tasks that are not just theoretically possible for AI, but actually being performed by it today.
Computer programmers top the list at 74.5%, with AI most commonly writing, updating, and maintaining software. Close behind are customer service representatives (70.1%) and data entry keyers (67.1%), where AI is handling customer interactions and document processing respectively.
What’s striking about this list is its breadth — it spans white-collar knowledge work (financial analysts, market researchers), technical roles (software QA testers, information security analysts), and administrative functions (medical record specialists). Observed exposure ranges from just under 47% for computer user support specialists at the bottom of the top ten, all the way up to 74.5% at the top.
The common thread? These are roles built around processing, analyzing, and communicating information — precisely the kind of work where AI has made its fastest inroads. You can read the report in full here.
